Sunrise Day Camp, for children ages 3 ½ - 16, is the only dedicated full summer day camp in the world for children with cancer and their siblings. It is a camp designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational and physical needs of these children while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night.

Sunrise Day Camp offers a full, multi-week summer activity program plus year- round camp-like programs. These additional programs take place at our campgrounds and other locations that provide exclusive use of their facilities. Additionally, our in-hospital program Sunrise On Wheels allows children to experience “camp” in the hospital by providing activities for those who are awaiting treatment.

Best of all, Sunrise Day Camp is offered free of charge to all children being treated for cancer and their siblings on a non-sectarian basis. By raising the needed funds from outside sources instead of charging the parents, we can help to alleviate some of the costs, and the related stress, that parents incur caring for a sick child throughout the year. Children who have received medical clearance from their physicians are welcome to attend.  Though 7.5 weeks of camp programming is offered, children may register and attend any and every day they feel well enough to do so.

Staff Position

We are seeking a talented storyteller to fill the combined role of Social Media & Photographer, and be part of a life-changing experience for children with cancer and their siblings. Immerse yourself in a world of joy, laughter, and friendship, as you capture and share the magic of camp through stunning visuals and compelling storytelling. This candidate will be responsible for both capturing beautiful moments at our day camp and creating engaging content for our social media platforms. The Social Media & Photographer will work closely with the camp and marketing teams to develop and execute a social media strategy, as well as organize and archive images for future use. The Social Media & Photographer will have a passion for our mission and help ensure that our story is shared in a visually captivating way.

This is a seasonal position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Take photographs of campers and camp activities
• Create engaging social media content
• Collaborate with camp and marketing teams to develop and execute a social media strategy
• Track social media performance and adjust strategy as needed
• Minor photo editing
• Organize and archive media
• Adhere to camper photo permissions

Required Skills & Experience:

• 2+ years Photography experience
• Proficiency in various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram
• Basic photo editing – knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is preferred
• Canva or other graphic design software experience a plus
• Experience with creating and editing short form video a plus
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Creative eye and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Camp will run from June 29 - August 18 and training begins June 26.
