Amyris International is seeking a strategic account sales and business development leader who will lead the expansion and success of Amyris brands in Walmart, Inc. Reporting to the President, Consumer, this role will be focused on the US, with opportunities to partner with the Amyris International team on opportunities with Walmart businesses outside the U.S.
The role will be based in US, with Bentonville, AR, as the preferred location. Given its high touch nature, the role requires travel to meet with brand teams and other Amyris and Walmart stakeholders on a frequent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Amyris Consumer Brand leaders to develop financial sales and marketing plans for Walmart US and Sam’s Club, inclusive of retail stores and eCommerce sites
- Understand category dynamics and competitor activity at Walmart, partnering with Amyris brands, to optimize the competitive positioning of Amyris brands at Walmart
- Negotiate with Walmart merchants to optimize space, location, and assortment across stores & e-commerce
- Ensure successful execution of merchandising initiatives in-store, in partnership with internal brand teams and external partners, e.g., brokers, agencies, etc.
- Conduct planning and performance review meetings with brand teams, brokers, and other third parties, as needed to ensure our success across each brand/category
- Facilitate communications and problem-solving between Walmart x Amyris supply chain teams to ensure product replenishment and inventory flow to shelf. Drive fact-based, constructive discussions, and resolutions with Walmart on penalties.
- Coordinate with Amyris teams to ensure cohesive communications and account management with Walmart stakeholders
- Identify and assess strategic opportunities for deepening the relationship with Walmart beyond existing brands. Facilitate internal Amyris resources, alongside senior leadership, to engage with Walmart on opportunity assessment and strategic dialogue among senior executives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
- Track record of success working with Walmart as a major supplier or Walmart merchant in beauty, consumables, and/or health & wellness categories
- Deep understanding of Walmart’s strategy, mission, culture, operations, and ways of working, including, but not limited to:
- The Walmart sales cycle, including ownership of product line reviews and planogramming influence
- Walmart operations – logistics, at-shelf replenishment, order to cash
- Partnering with WMT merchandising/marketing on trade funds management, promotion calendars, and in-store execution
- Mining Retail Link for actionable insights, and accountability for performance against supplier scorecard metrics
- Creative problem-solving skills: ability to balance the desires and objectives of Amyris and Walmart
- Demonstrated success in building trusted relationships with cross-functional Walmart leaders
- Start-up, high-growth, challenger company experience
Amyris is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The annual pay range for this role is $153,500 to $303,500 Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis, and will vary based on the candidate’s skills, depth of experience and specific work location. This role is also eligible for incentive pay, equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and stock options.
