General Summary/ Overview:
The Social Media Specialist is a collaborative and detail-oriented individual who implements social media marketing tactics across multiple channels, targeting various geographies and audiences. He/She/They will directly manage accounts in collaboration with the Social Media team, Internal/External Communications, Development, Human Resources and other departments across the system to align with the social strategy and overall communication goals. Such efforts and channels include Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Facebook.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Search and Social, the Social Media Specialist is a key member of the social media team. He/She/They creates, develops and plans social media communications while supporting the mission of the system and hospital. He/She/They regularly seeks out new information and stays ahead of social media trends and best practices. He/She/They is extremely creative and is constantly bringing new content ideas to the table, as well as staying on top of competitors in the market and brands “breaking the mold” in social media. He/She/They also regularly convenes with individuals across the organization who are involved with social media activity while building relationships. He/She/They also tracks social media analytics to ensure content is performing the best it can. This individual is also aware of the social media conversation happening on the channels and can escalate to the appropriate teams when needed.

The Social Media Specialist is a creative and skilled writer/editor and project manager. He/She/They demonstrates professionalism, commitment to service excellence and works collaboratively and effectively within all levels of the system.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Social Media Strategy, Planning and Execution

  • Daily maintenance of social media channels, including the development of content (visual assets and live streaming, if needed), making sure content aligns with social media editorial guidelines
  • Contribute to the social media team by offering creative ideas and solutions
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesion across platforms while creating a social media content calendar for posts
  • In collaboration with the Analytics team, analyze and report on social media metrics
  • Keep abreast of social media trends and best practices while also sharing learnings with the social media and digital team
  • Assist with organic and paid social media campaigns
  • Assists in social media graphic creation and planning

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience producing and editing social media content
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, art, creative, journalism, or other related fields
  • Experience as a community manager on social media
  • Proficiency with social media tools
Preferred:
  • Photoshop or other design skills
  • Social media tools such as Falcon, Sprout Social or Sprinklr
  • Social media analytics and insights
  • SEO experience

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and editing as well as oral and written communication
  • Highly collaborative, detail oriented and good project manager
  • Storytelling skills for social media, ability to write concise content while optimizing for social media channels
  • Understanding of social media tools, community management and channel diversity
  • Ability to move quickly in a rapidly changing environment
  • Superior attention to detail and quality
  • Proven initiative, self-direction while working in a remote or hybrid environment
  • Committed to teamwork and collaboration
  • Willingness to understand and navigate health care
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Great working knowledge of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
  • Experience producing strategic, optimized content
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
