Non profit looking to hire 1 part time employee and 1 casual employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Wednesday, approximately 10:00 am to 4:00 pm: Safely transporting dogs, puppies from location (s) in northern, Ohio to several locations between Northern, Ohio and Columbus, Ohio.

2. Thursday, approximately 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm: Safely transporting dogs and cats from Columbus (east side) several locations in northern Ohio.

3. While transporting each day:

· Coordinate and manage one or more stops where passengers are delivered and others enter for next “leg” of journey

· Assure all passengers are comfortable in kennels that allow turning around, standing and adequate ventilation

· Assure all kennels are sanitized when passenger leaves and prior to when another arrives

4. Clean and sanitize van and kennels after use, utilizing specific protocols.

5. Upkeep of cargo van for safe operation.

6. Keep cargo van and kennels (that are not being used) in safe place, to be determined.

7. Availability every Wednesday and Thursday (unless transport day falls on a holiday then transport is changed to another day). Note: It is understood that occasional Wednesdays, the transport does not happen and therefore no work hours on that day.

· Must have 100% compliance with schedule

· Weds: Drive from Columbus area to northern Ohio and back with aforementioned stops.

· Thursday: Drive from Columbus, Ohio to Reynoldsburg, Ohio to one or two of aforementioned northern Ohio stops.

· Due to any change in shelters served or in general business conditions, there could be variation in the route.

8. Work amicably and respectfully with all volunteers and with all staff of other organizations.

9. Drive safely and within speed limit. Safety is a priority.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Education – High School or equivalent

· Valid Ohio Drivers License and satisfactory driving record

· Specialized knowledge

- Knowledge of highway safety and other routine driving safety

- Knowledge of vehicle care and maintenance

Preferred:

- Minimum 2 years of fostering for an animal rescue organization/humane society or caring for pets in a formal setting

- Knowledge of signs of illness or stress in dogs and cats and ability to intervene or ask for assistance

- Advanced knowledge and skill in vehicle maintenance

· Skills and Abilities

Ability to work collaboratively

Ability to maintain a team environment

Ability to assign tasks quickly and efficiently

Ability to oversee that all tasks done by others have been performed correctly

Ability to recognize emergencies and call for help

o Ability to work in all weather conditions

o Ability to do the task of loading and unloading quickly and safety

o Ability to lift 50 lbs

o Professional and helpful attitude toward all involved in transport

o Ability to use email

o Ability to print weekly run sheet

· Professional Certification – none required

o Preferred: Vet assistant, Vet tech
