Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, performs electrical maintenance and/or repairs adhering to all safety rules.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs electrical maintenance including troubleshooting electronic malfunctions, maintaining or replacing electronic equipment, and installing, moving and maintaining telephone equipment.
Inspects and repairs electronic/electrical systems to prevent shutdowns and/or major overhauls. Repairs, replaces, installs or alters systems according to trade practices and National Electrical Code.
Checks and maintains systems after installations and makes necessary changes, adjustments and modifications according to blueprints, schematics and manufacturers' specifications.
Learns and applies proper maintenance and techniques on systems as required.
Performs general maintenance as assigned.
Must be willing to respond to emergencies or situations needing immediate attention that may occur outside of regular schedule.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. One-year trade school course (Theory of Electricity and Electronics) with four years experience or five years experience as an electrical journeyman required. Working knowledge of proper procedures in operating high voltage equipment and in installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment required. Thorough knowledge of proper safety procedures and the National Electrical Code required. The position requires the incumbent to carry a beeper and provide 24-hour availability for emergency call-in service.
