GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
THE STARTING PAY IS $17.00 AN HOUR
This is a contract position with no benefits, typically working 30 hours per weekTHIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT CITY OF CAPE CORAL EMPLOYEES AND THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO APPLY.

- Primary responsibilities are cooking, providing food service to guests and maintaining cleanliness of facility and equipment, following proper procedures.
- Assists with or prepares food and equipment daily.
- Assists with or stocks inventories and supplies.
- Knowledge of effective supervisory principles and techniques in general.
- Skill in report and record maintenance principles and techniques.
- Ability to give and receive instructions and apply consistent courtesy and tact in public contact and /or confrontational situations.
- Supervises, trains, schedules (including start, break, and end times), delegates and reviews work of assigned staff; assists with or initiates personnel actions, i.e., hiring, discipline; maintains related records.
- Skill in written, verbal, electronic, and visual communications for effective expression and clarity.
- Knowledge of principles and operational methods of cash handling and accounts receivable, when assigned to Golf Course or Special Populations.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and working in the elements.
- Performs other duties in the park or café when required.
Individuals assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedule. Parks and Recreation staff must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of experience in food handling required.
- Cooking experience required.
- Florida ServSafe certification required within ninety (90) days of hire (provided by City).
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license upon hire and obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
- Florida Food Service Manager certification required within ninety (90) days of hire.
- When assigned to Golf Course, must complete a cash handling class within ninety (90) days of hire.
