Job Summary:

The Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Program within the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) conducts research in the field of aging and dementia, and seeks to establish effective prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). We are currently seeking a Clinical Research Manager to lead its team working on the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study (WLS), a world-renowned study that has followed its participants for 60+ years. In the current effort (the Initial Lifetime's Impact on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (WLS-ILIAD), the ADRC has partnered with WLS and the University of Wisconsin - Survey Center (UWSC) in an ambitious attempt to map dementia prevalence within the cohort. This aim will help us to understand the complex relationship between sociodemographic factors, brain health, and dementia risk.

The program manager will provide administrative and regulatory oversight to this project and oversee daily operations of the study. This position will address all administrative, fiscal, and IRB-related matters. The appointed person will work closely with the Primary Investigators (PIs) and the study team to ensure coordination of study-related activities between the ADRC, WLS, and UWSC. Supervision of a minimum of 2.0 FTE is required. It is expected that the program manager understands all aspects of the study visit protocol and be able to provide coverage for biomarker study visits, if needed.

Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, and directs a clinical research program within a division, center, or department. Solicits clinical research opportunities, develops policies and procedures, and has significant responsibility for the overall functioning and effectiveness of the clinical research. Supervises clinical research staff.
  • 20% Plans staff implementation of protocols and on-going quality review of one or multiple, basic or moderately complex clinical research trials or programs
  • 10% Analyzes research portfolios and accounts, solicits internal and external research opportunities, promotes unit capabilities, and makes recommendations to leadership for strategic program enhancements
  • 20% Compiles audits and documents research data to ensure necessary compliance with institutional policies and procedures
  • 10% Composes, assembles, and submits grant proposals and protocols according to applicable rules and regulations
  • 20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 20% Develops and monitors the program budget; and reviews and approves expenditures

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Degree in health-care related field preferred.



Qualifications:

Experience in a clinical or clinical research setting required. Prior project management and supervision of other academic/university staff preferred.

A successful candidate will have a proven track record of demonstrating strong leadership, organizational and operational management, and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must be effective at problem solving, communication (both written and verbal), building strong relationships with constructive interactions, and promoting and creating collegial environments that value accountability, diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging.



Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum starting salary for the position is $70,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.



Additional Information:

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
