JOB TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
SHIFT: 56 hours, bi-weekly. Benefits available.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years preferred volunteer management experience in hospital setting.
- Three to five years fund development experience preferred.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Cameron Hospital Foundation, the Volunteer Coordinator/Development Coordinator oversees the strategies and initiatives of the hospital volunteer services and assists the Executive Director of the Foundation with Fund Development strategies. The Volunteer Coordinator/Development Coordinator plays a major role in setting the direction of the Volunteer Services and the development operations of the Foundation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Volunteer Coordinator:
- Oversee all components of the volunteer services program which includes the ability to manage and schedule for more than 50 people.
- Work with the Executive Board of Volunteer Services in facilitating monthly meetings and updating the operating procedures every three years.
- Interview volunteer candidates, including preparing informational materials and applications and coordinating orientation program for volunteers.
- Fill requests for volunteer assistance from hospital staff, matching volunteer skill set with appropriate placement.
- Coordinate and distribute schedule to all volunteers monthly.
- Attend volunteer services meetings as a representative of the hospital and keep management informed of current volunteer activities as well as keeping volunteers informed of developments at the hospital.
- Maintain requirements of state board of health by having all the volunteers updated on screenings as mandated by Employee Health.
- Plan annual volunteer recognition event for volunteers. Facilitate public relations for volunteers via hospital newsletter in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
- Produce the bi-monthly newsletter for the volunteers, highlighting volunteer activities and events, and oversee its mailing to members.
- Oversee the completion of the annual volunteer services reports including a spreadsheet of hours volunteered by department.
- In collaboration with the Foundation, organize volunteer donation records.
- Properly responds to and resolves all situations by adhering to proper procedural guidelines.
- Perform regular rounding; interacting with volunteers and assisting with any needs they may have.
- Prepares and submits Volunteer Services budget.
DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
- Work with the Foundation Executive Director to project, track and meet fundraising goals.
- Support marketing efforts related to philanthropy.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to define new initiatives designed to increase the donor base.
- Manage the donor CSM system.
- Compose gift acknowledgment letters to donors when appropriate.
- Assist in the coordination of Foundation special events.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Team-oriented leader with strong management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, flexibility.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Detail oriented and organizational skills.
- Experience with personal computers, most importantly Microsoft Office and CSM Software.
- Experience writing professional documents.
- Knowledge of basic accounting.
- Commitment to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital mission.

- This position is required to supervise over 50 hospital volunteers.
