Job description
SUMMARY:
Under the Direction of the Health Promotions Director this individual is responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, administering, and evaluating the agency-wide health promotion program of Riverside-San Bernardino county Indian Health, Inc., and does other work as required.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meeting with the Director to understand all vital aspects of the particular project.
- Ensuring that all team members understand the scope of the project as well as what they are individually responsible for.
- Making schedules of what needs to be completed by what date, as well as of team meetings and coordinating the same with other members.
- Assisting the Health Promotions Director with evaluations.
- Compiling and maintaining interim project reports and minutes of meetings.
- Communicating relevant information to all team members, such as change in schedule dates, changes in the project’s requirements, unexpected hitches etc.
- Coordinating activities with vendors and suppliers and maintaining relationships with them.
- Assisting the Director in various activities such as budget monitoring and in meetings with management.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of cooperative programs with other community agencies and citizen groups aimed at the solution of the health problems of the community.
- Develop prepares, and coordinates grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for health education programs and related work.
- Documents activities, recording information such as the number of application completed, preparations conducted, and persons assisted.
- Supervised professional and technical staff implementing health programs objectives, and goals.
- May carry small caseload of teaching responsibilities and be available as back up to educators to serve the community.
- This position shall require working on weekends as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Must have Bachelor of Science or Art or with coursework equivalent with 3 years working with children and adolescents experience.
Experience: Three years experience in Health Promotion and Education, two of which must have been in a lead, supervisory or administrative capacity.
Knowledge of: The principles and practices of public health promotion, education and health administration including program administration and fiscal management.
Staff training and supervision.
Planning, implementation and evaluation of health programs.
Identification of funding sources and development of grant proposals.
Coalition building and community organization.
Marketing and public relations.
Effective oral and written communication techniques.
Health education research and evaluation.
Development of health education methods, strategies and materials.
Understanding of the social dimensions of the RSBCIHI environment which influence the economic, political, legal, ethical, social, cultural, religious and demographic variables that affect community health.
License: Must possess a valid California driver’s license. A current DMV printout is required.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, develop, administer and evaluate the work of a staff of the community health education program.
Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Skill:
A Health Promotions Lead must have good time management, multitasking, and stress management skills to be able to ensure that tasks get completed on timely manner. Good team work and leadership skills are essential in order to motivate different groups of people to fulfill their responsibilities within a given time frame.
Ability to:
Interface at all levels. Function independently at technical and office management level. Acceptable verification of performance required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
