JOB TITLE: Telecommunications/Network Engineer DEPARTMENT: Telecom

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility for this role is LAN/WAN routing for 125 remote locations and two datacenters. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in routing and some experience with SD Wan solutions. Candidates should be self-starters and have experience leading technical projects.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

(a) Maintains a robust, highly available, high performance data center network infrastructure involving multiple distributed systems.

(b) Installs, configures, administers, upgrades and maintains complex Cisco network routers.

(c) Maximizes network performance by monitoring infrastructure; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with 3rd party support resources and fellow IT engineers on network optimization.

(d) Supports all data services across the enterprise; analyzes bandwidth requirements and provide proactive cost and capacity planning.

(e) Leads network projects to support capacity growth, upgrades and new products/features, and integration.

(f) Provides Tier 3 support for all network issues; must be available for maintenance windows after hours and over weekends.

(g) Participates in the diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems. Identifies and documents the root cause.

(h) Drives documentation of Standard Operating Procedure documents.

(i) Transfers project knowledge to Support Team members

(j) Works closely with other departments/organizations and collaborates with other IT staff.

(k) Ensures the most cost-effective and efficient use of network infrastructure. Drives improvements in network process and standardization.

Qualifications:

(a) Site-to-site VPN in depth knowledge with Hub and Spoke experience.

(b) SD-WAN & traffic shaping deployment and troubleshooting. Knowledge of QoS.

(c) Maximize network performance by monitoring infrastructure; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with 3rd party support resources and fellow IT engineers on network optimization.

(d) NetFlow configuration and monitoring for network devices. Packet capture and analysis.

(e) Provide Tier 3 support for all network issues; must be available for maintenance windows after hours and over weekends.

(f) Participates in the diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems. Identifies and documents the root cause.

(g) Have history of maintaining routing for large complex environments

(h) Excellent customer service skills

(i) Excellent communication skills – oral and written

(j) Excellent understanding of network technologies

(k) Excellent understanding of Cisco routers, switches, and wireless technology

Experience/Education:

(a) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

(b) Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in a hands-on technical role in enterprise operations environment with a complex IT infrastructure

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
