JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator – Legal Technology is responsible for installation, administration, and maintenance of enterprise-wide legal technology in support of e-discovery, case management, transaction support, document automation and related areas. These systems include Relativity, Kira, Brainspace, Language Weaver, Docusign and HotDocs, among others. The Systems Administrator installs and maintains systems, performs software upgrades and patches, monitors performance, maintains system security, ensures successful redundancy and load balancing architecture and builds/tests the disaster recovery plans.
As a member of the Enterprise Systems team in IT, the Systems Administrator works closely with other systems administrators and DBAs to ensure legal software is configured and supported following firm and department standards and best practices. This position partners with the Legal Technology group within Information Services, addressing system issues, developing technical plans and executing strategic initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure software and systems are healthy and stable, running smoothly, and utilized to their fullest potential, bringing optimal value to the end users.
- Immediately address unplanned downtime issues, engaging with vendor support when necessary
- Execute regular upgrades to pre-production and production environments.
- Ensure that complete and accurate backups of the supported systems take place at the appropriate intervals.
- Work with legal department staff to understand technology needs and provide solutions.
- Work independently with vendors and internal staff to onboard new technology into the firm’s environment when required.
- Ensure compliance with the firm’s change management, information security, release management and disaster recovery procedures including maintaining appropriate DR documentation and participating in DR planning and testing.
- Resolve escalated user support tickets for end-users.
- Track and optimize system performance, security and storage utilization and plan for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support the systems and account for growth.
- Plan for migration to future versions of any relevant products in the technology stack.
- Insofar as possible, transfer knowledge about system operations to system owners and end-users. Help to identify essential skills and training needs. Cross-train colleagues to ensure continuity of coverage.
- Maintain system diagrams and documentation.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a minimum 3 years of related experience; degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in legal technology software administration in a law firm or legal department or similar experience in a technical role at a related vendor
- Minimum of 1 year direct experience installing, configuring and supporting an on-premises Relativity system
- Strong understanding of e-discovery software, case management software and practice support software
- Proficiency in Windows and Red Hat Linux server administration
- Experience with software and systems troubleshooting
- Knowledge of software and systems security best practices
- Familiarity with SQL databases and Transact-SQL
- Strong understanding of load-balancing principles, tools and configurations
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Application installation, data conversion and testing experience
- Proven success with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques
- Must demonstrate excellent teamwork, collaboration and customer service

The anticipated pay range for this role is $87,500 - $131,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
