An up-and-coming firm has teamed up with Robert Half to find an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The Orangeburg, New York based company is offering this position on a long-term contract / temporary basis. They provide an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.Key responsibilities
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Maintain monthly payment schedules
- Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Take part in various department-wide initiatives
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
- Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledge of Sage Software
- Comprehensive knowledge of bank reconciliations
- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
- Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Efficient in ERP systems
