School Health Office Coordinator
Job description
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000. Placement in the range is commensurate with experience.
The Dalton School, a K-12 independent, coeducational school located in Manhattan, is consistently recognized as one of the top independent day schools in the nation. It has a total enrollment of about 1,300 students and a faculty and staff of approximately 350.
The Dalton School Health office is seeking a School Health Office Coordinator to begin August 15, 2023. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain digital student health information in an electronic medical records program, including annual physical forms, immunizations and consent forms.
- Assist Nurses and Athletic trainers in reviewing medical information for clearance for student athletes and trips.
- Pull data for Department of Health reports, including immunizations.
- Support and maintain up-to-date knowledge of NYS and NYC Department of Health regulations.
- Provide student medication rosters for all trips—day, overnight and international—and ensure that chaperones have and know how to administer emergency medication.
- Provide basic first aid care to students in case of injury or illness and contact teachers or families when required.
- Assist in the education of students on healthy habits, such as proper hygiene and nutrition.
- Send notifications to faculty and staff regarding medical needs of students.
- Help to maintain an environment that is safe for children and school staff.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Education: Current CPR /AED and First Aid certification, EMT, LPN, or Med assistant certification.
- Minimum one year experience working with students or children ages 5-18.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and have good listening skills, kindness, and patience.
- Magnus SMR Health Portal experience is a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms and Drive) skills.
- Able to multitask and quickly adapt to change, have strong assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
