Best known for Little Debbie® snack cakes, America’s leading snack cake brand, Sunbelt Bakery® granola products, and Drake’s Cakes®, McKee Foods Corporation is seeking an Ingredients Purchasing Agent to join our Corporate Purchasing department. This position is responsible for the purchase of ingredients. Pay Grade
Salaried Grade 6, 7 or 8
$64,500 - $85,100 / year, depending on experience and qualifications.
The base salary range represents the starting and expected pay for this position. Actual salaries may vary and in some cases may be higher with extensive experience and strong performance.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (other hours as needed)
This is a hybrid-remote position with up to three days remote work available, depending on business need. Candidates must live within commuting distance to Collegedale, TN.
Job Summary
- Purchases ingredients and helps department with related tasks
- Researches and helps resolve any purity or quality issues of ingredients
- Selects vendors and maintain vendor relations
- Buys select ingredients
- Maintains quotes and pricing information in the system for Ingredients
- Sets up and maintains the approved supplier list for Ingredients
- Follows up and resolves invoicing issues with the vendor for ingredients
- Tracks and follows up on ingredient rejections
- Requests new vendor setups for ingredients
- Requests paperwork needed for new vendors/ingredients
- Responsible for sample requests, delivery and follow-up
- Helps plan for projected ingredient usage
- Follows up on ingredient shortages and tracks movement
- Approves freight invoices for ingredients
- Works with logistics on pickup issues at the vendors
- Resolves pricing, quality, or service problems
- Must be able to travel up to 15%
Required Qualifications
- Two years of college or AS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of experience may be substituted for 1 year of education)
- At least 1 year of related experience
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures, economics, and financial markets
- Ability to accomplish research to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Ability to negotiate terms, agreements and understandings with suppliers and other management as required
- Demonstrated experience resolving quality and service issues with suppliers
- Ability to gather comprehensive information, compare and understand available options and make appropriate decisions
- Ability to gather and analyze data with good mathematical skills (fractions, ratios, percentages, statistics)
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite with extensive Excel experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain and accurately communicate
- Ability to multi-task, identify issues and problem solve
- Ability and willingness to challenge the status quo and find creative solutions
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3-5 years of experience purchasing ingredients
- C.P.M. or CPSM certifications
