Prevention Project Manager
Job description
The Prevention Project Manager will direct the prevention activities of the organization including the oversight of the Statewide Plan of the Prevention of Intimate Partner Violence in Connecticut and the deliverables of the CDC Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership through Alliance, Achieving Health Equity through Addressing Disparities (DELTA AHEAD) project. This professional will lead measures to identify, address, and develop long-term strategies for reducing and preventing the occurrence of domestic violence
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop a Statewide Leadership Team to 1) enhance our present statewide plan for the prevention of domestic violence 2) to address the social determinants of health, and 3) to create, implement, and evaluate state-level program and policy efforts.
- Conduct a statewide environmental scan to better understand existing resources as well as the gaps in which domestic violence prevention efforts can be either implemented or improved. This will include how the social determinants of health intersect with domestic violence.
- Identify a minimum of one policy effort that will be implemented on both the state and community level.
- Partnering with a Coordinated Community Response Team to build its capacity to engage in domestic violence prevention activities and to develop a community-based action plan.
- Implementing and evaluating a minimum of one statewide and two community-based evidence-based prevention program and policy efforts.
- Establish a centralized hub for data to strengthen policy, practice, and evaluation.
- Work with project partners to develop specialized materials in the form of a toolkit for maternity health care practitioners to promote screening and education, provide instructions on screening methods, identify appropriate responses, and access resources.
- Implement the goals and objectives of the statewide prevention plan.
- Collaborate with member organizations to develop and implement best-practice or evidence-based domestic violence prevention programs.
- Assess the needs of the state and develop educational and practical support resources.
Other Activities:
- Work collaboratively with other CCADV staff and actively participate in the daily operations of CCADV.
- Work collaboratively with member programs and builds strong, positive relationships.
- Build effective, cooperative, positive relationships with co-workers.
- Take initiative and/or independent action to ensure work responsibilities are carried out fully and completely.
- Adapt to changing job priorities in CCADV’s needs. Remains open to new ideas and developing new skills as needed.
- Demonstrate supportive behaviors and accepts personal accountability toward CCADV’s objectives and policies.
- Support CCADV’s management and its Board of Directors.
- Generate innovative solutions by drawing upon diverse sources (individuals, disciplines, bodies of knowledge) for ideas and inspiration.
- Make referrals to appropriate CCADV staff or other resources in order that requests from special initiatives for technical assistance and/or training are appropriately and adequately met.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, experience working in the domestic violence field preferred.
- Experience in planning and program development.
- Must have strong organizational, communication, training, public speaking and writing skills.
- Must have expertise in collaboration with diverse groups and individuals.
- Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to manage time and multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with a team.
- Flexibility to travel, reliable transportation, and valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CCADV’s mission, as well as, understanding of issues related to domestic violence.
- Experience in the use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to address various office needs of light to medium physical effort, lifting and moving boxes occasionally up to 50lbs.
- Ongoing compliance with federal funding requirements including successful completion of background checks and drug screens.
- Follow organization health and safety protocol requirements.
- Sound judgement and strong critical thinking skills.
- Initiative to accomplish tasks that drive the organization forward.
