Job Description:

We are now looking for a Presales Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe – Spain. You will join our team, reporting to our Presales Team Leader.This team supports on a range of military communications products and services that allow connectivity from remote terminals (Land, Sea and Air) to deployed and fixed headquarters. Our solutions are used worldwide and include over 40 years in delivering Satcom solutions and services to our customers.

This Presales Engineer will have a strong technical background to work closely with our customers - understanding their needs and providing guidance to them on solution options. The role holder will also lead a technical team as part of a bid, taking responsibility through to contract award.

This role will involve frequent travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Ideally for this role you will need to be eligible to gain SP Security Clearance.

Tasks & Accountabilities

• Work closely with the Business Growth team to produce a technical strategy and solution that can be clearly articulated to our customers in an understandable way
• Presenting and discussion solutions to customers
• Orchestrate technical reviews, ensure specialist engineers are involved and deliver a coherent technical proposal on time and on budget
• The role requires an understanding of different stakeholders & customer types and how to manage those relationships
• Lead the technical bid team and actively contribute to the supplier/partner negotiations.

Skills & Experience

• Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• Extensive experience in Satellite communications (Geo and Leo)
• Significant knowledge of Comms-on-the-move terminals (land sea and air), satcom systems and related services
• Good knowledge of satellite modems - both military and commercial
• Good knowledge and satellite gateway architecture and services
• An understanding of Logistic Support (ILS, spares, support contracts) and project schedules
• Existing training in Shipley bid techniques or similar methods is desirable but not required
• Familiarity with Naval and Space satcoms would be great to see
