The Physical Agility Test consists of 4 components: a 99-yard obstacle course; a 165 pound body drag; a 6' wall climb; and a 500-yard run. These are timed events and successful applicants must complete all components of the test within the prescribed time period.
This is an entry-level, non-sworn training position in the Police Department. Incumbents are assigned to the Basic Peace Officer Academy, paid for by the City of Lodi Police Department, and incumbents must satisfactorily pass all of the requirements that lead to the possession of the Basic Peace Officer Standards and Training Certificate. After graduation from the academy, the incumbent will be appointed as a sworn Police Officer under the supervision and control of a Field Training Officer (FTO) while in the Field Training Program. Failure to successfully complete the police academy will result in termination from employment.

Physical Agility Testing: Qualified applicants will be invited to the physical agility testing portion of the examination on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Applicants must participate and pass the physical agility test in order to be invited to the written examination. The physical agility test consists of a 99-yard obstacle course, a 165 pound body drag, a 6' wall climb, and a 500-yard run. These are timed events and successful applicants must complete all components of the test within the prescribed time period.
Written Examination (POST PELLETB): Applicants who pass the Physical Agility Test will be invited to participate in the written PELLETB examination, later in the day, Saturday, May 13, 2023. Applicants who possess a T-Score of 44.0 or higher, obtained from another California Law Enforcement agency/academy in the past 12 months may submit that T-Score in lieu of taking the written examination. Applicants must obtain a T-Score of 44.0 or higher to be considered for the Police Officer Trainee (Entry Level) position.

Under close supervision and direction of instructors or Field Training Officers, will learn duties, responsibilities, and skills to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work.
Attend and successfully complete a police academy to prepare for the position of Police Officer. Applicants who fail out of the academy will be deemed to have failed probation and released from employment.
Observing, assimilating, remembering, and recalling pertinent facts and details; Ability to learn to read maps and mapped information.

Physical: Must be in excellent general health and physical condition. Ability to pass a comprehensive medical examination administered by the city. Hearing Normal in each ear. Vision 20/100 correctable to 20/30; normal color perception.

HIRING PROCEDURE - Applicants must possess the minimum qualifications by the final filing date. Eligible lists are established upon successful completion of the selection process. The candidates must be successful in each part of the testing. To fill each vacancy the hiring department will request names to be certified from the eligible list and will make a selection from this certification list.
