Title: Pharmacy IV Therapy - Pharmacy
Location: Maury Regional Medical Center
Position Shift: PRN Day Shift
Position Summary:
The person in this position is responsible for compounding sterile preparations for IV use, including chemotherapy agents, following USP 797 guidelines including but not limited to: using aseptic technique, safe handling of chemotherapy agents, ensuring the clean room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per policy/procedure, monitoring the clean room environment, and maintaining personal validation per policy/procedure. This person prepares, under a pharmacists supervision, chemotherapy and other related medications and operates equipment and handles pharmaceuticals in a safe and approved manner. They must work with Pharmacy administrative staff and all pharmacy team members in meeting department objectives.
Credentials / Education:
· Pharmacy Technician Certification Preferred
- 1year Pharmacy experience Preferred
Responsibilities:
- Assists the pharmacist in IV and chemotherapy preparation.
- Serves as pharmacy liaison with Maury Regional Cancer Center staff
- Assists pharmacists in maintaining IV area patient records.
- Assists pharmacists in maintaining sterile compounding records.
- Screens phone calls regarding medications.
- Assists managers in development of IV room policies and procedures.
- Participates in departmental quality measures, process improvements, and documentation efforts.
- Performs competency testing for pharmacy staff involved in sterile compounding.
- Assists in capturing all charges and credits for medications
- Assists in improving workflow of the Cancer Center
