Job description
Our hygienists are here to promote strong, positive, long-lasting relationships with our patients to the practice. We must ensure our patient experience is second to none at Mill Creek Dental due to our current innovations and technology, consistency, and high standard of care. In addition to quality dental cleanings and therapies offered by the hygienist, we require a high level of dental imaging knowledge, frequency, and utilization to offer the most thorough exam and assessment of the patient’s overall oral health. We require excellent communication skills from our hygienists to convey proper patient education in an effective, yet manageable manner for each patient. Hygienist Roles
1. Patient Care
Prophylaxis, Periodontal Maintenance, Periodontal Evaluation, SCRP, Local Anesthesia, Nitrous Oxide Administration
2 Dental Imaging
Take appropriate imaging per patient. (4 BWX & 2PA, Pano, Cone Beam, Intraoral Photos, Digital Camera Photos, additional PA’s as needed)
Knowledge of Open Dental is preferred.
3. Patient Education
Help the patient understand healthy teeth and gums and help them understand any treatment planned options proposed by the doctor. Include both needed/urgent needs as well as elective/potential treatment. This includes assisting the doctor with organizing the treatment plan during the exam.
4. Scheduling Recare
Schedule appropriate follow up recare treatment. It is important to never let a patient leave the office without some sort of next visit scheduled, whether it is treatment or recare.
5. Room Turns
Tear down, move tools/instruments to sterilization area, properly sanitize workroom and set up for next patient.
6. Sterilization
Clean and sterilize instruments as time permits. Make more of a priority if the sterilization area is becoming backed up.
7. Stock
Ensure each room is stocked with proper supplies as needed. Includes stock of hygiene goodie bags.
8. Recall Patients
When time permits, call pt’s to help fill holes in schedule. Today’s schedule is the most important to fill.
9. Training/Licensure Requirements
Stay current with all required training both for office procedures and continuing education requirements for licensure.
Experience: 1 Year preferred
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
