Candidates should possess:
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in paralegal science or a bachelor's degree with a minor in paralegal studies
OR
Two-year program in paralegal studies
OR
Post-baccalaureate certificate in paralegal studies
OR
A Juris Doctorate or a law degree from a college of law.
Candidates should possess:
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively
- Attention to detail
- Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to review documentation for accuracy
- Committed to timely meeting deadlines
- Ability to adapt to work pressures and changing priorities
- Experience in information gathering/research
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Assisting attorneys and other staff
- Reviewing records and documents (searching documents for key words, terms, phrases; redacting documents electronically)
- Legal research and writing
- Interviewing clients
- Performing other duties as assigned
- These positions are not under the merit system and generally includes the staffs of the governor and lieutenant governor, policy-making managers, and agency leaders. (See KRS 18A.115.) These positions have no formal selection criteria and are not appointed from a register. Employees in these positions may be terminated 'without notice of cause' without recourse. Vacancies may or may not be posted on the careers website.
