Program Summary:

The Out of School Time Enrichment Program serves K-12 age youth at various OST site. This program leverages a positive youth development approach aimed at providing homeless youth and youth living in high-crime neighborhoods with a stable and supportive environment in which they can succeed academically. The program also aims to empower youth with the coping skills to process the unique challenges that result from homelessness and community violence to minimize its impact on their overall wellbeing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary duties will be assisting afterschool and summer enrichment programming at OST sites on a weekly basis but may expand to additional sites based on mutual agreement. The assistant will support a Sasha Bruce program coordinator in delivering a high-quality after-school program that seeks to help students explore their creativity, improve their relationships with others, connect with peers in meaningful ways, and work toward their goals for the future. The program will also engage youth in physical and creative-expression activities, as will ensure they also have time for homework. At minimum, the assistant will understand the activities and lessons of the day, and help the coordinator carry them out. The assistant will attend to various needs that arise from the students, and support routine logistics (e.g., helping students get their supper from the cafeteria, passing out activity supplies, ensuring students are picked up by parents, etc). A motivated assistant may also choose to help develop activities and recruit students if the program has not reached capacity.


This position is a contract position and pays $20/hour for up 15 hours per week during the school year and up to 30 hours per week during school programming. The summer hours are not definite and will be agreed upon mutually.
