We at Fairview Health Services are looking for Ophthalmic Assistant to work out of our Fridley Clinic! This is a full time (80 hours every two weeks), benefit eligible position! The Ophthalmic Assistant (OA) will assist physicians and clinical/clerical staff in the efficient daily flow of the clinic. The OA will also assist ophthalmologists and optometrists in the preparation and examination of patients with ophthalmic diseases of the eye. The facilitate efficient patient flow in the clinic by scheduling appointments and tests, entering patients information into EMR, administer eye drops, and assist with minor procedures.
- Rooms patients maintains a smooth and efficient daily schedule to maintain timely appointments
- Record information in EPIC, able to compile a detailed, accurate ophthalmic history including
- Visual acuity
- Neutralizes glasses
- Performs other clinical testing, BAT (brightness acuity testing), Amsler grid, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), Visual Fields
- Conducts exam room cleaning in compliance with system guidelines
- Contact Lens Training when assisting optometrist
- Assists with In Basket work
- Instructs patients in the use of medication and gives pre and post op medications and details those directions in EPIC
- Assists physicians during exams and office procedures. Prepares and assists in in-office procedures as needed, writes glasses prescriptions for patients when asked by the MD. Care Coordination and Prepares patients for surgery: Schedules appointments/referrals for secondary providers
- Schedules patients for Ophthalmology appointments as necessary, from incoming phone calls and/or schedule order work queues
Required
- Strong Digital literacy
- BLS
Preferred
- Optometry or Ophthalmology experience
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
