JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Research Communications in the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR) is seeking a Multimedia Specialist 2 or 3 to lead website development and management, and help drive web-based marketing strategies across the unit and University.

Responsibilities: Duties include the following:

  • Development of a plan for optimal OSVPR website framework, security strategy, SEO strategy, transition from Drupal to Wordpress among other web-based strategies for the OSVPR enterprise.
  • Strategy and process-setting for proper internal and external UI / funnel for research target audiences.
  • Be the lead in designing and executing web-based strategies for OSVPR (and its units and offices, as needed), working in alignment with the OSVPR Marketing and Communications office and other stakeholders.
  • Writing, creating and embedding various written or multimedia content on the web as needed (an example includes creating and maintaining OSVPR, research center and seed grant programs webpages).

Education and Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a Level 3. For a Level 2, the typical requirements are an Associate's degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The candidate should have the following:

  • Strong knowledge of website security system needs, demands, risks, solutions and patches and be able to lead internal or external team members regarding the implementation and maintenance of website security measures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to track and accurately incorporate feedback from various project participants.
  • Be able to present project information such as wireframes, outlines or mockups succinctly and clearly for inclusion in presentations to stakeholders at all levels of the University.

Other requirements are as follows:

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems (Drupal and WordPress), basic image editing through Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe products, understanding of HTML, XHTML, CSS design, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Access, mySQL and JavaScript.
  • Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment and strong attention to detail.
  • Candidate should have an interest in learning about up-to-date usability, UX, responsive design, accessibility, and project management techniques.
  • Adept at communicating professionally and clearly, should be comfortable arranging meetings with stakeholders to gather information, will have general knowledge about marketing strategies (campaigns, execution tactics, etc.), and should have a strong interest in science and research.
  • Experience with website and general marketing analytics and reporting is preferred.
