M&A Business Development

STEP is a boutique investment banking and acquisitions advisory firm located in West Los Angeles focused on buy-side and sell-side M&A services to the consumer products industry as well as SaaS companies.

STEP is seeking a business development associate to be part of our team who is good at out-bound relationship-development calls. The role involves working from our lists and finding additional companies to contact and then to initiate a discussion to open deal opportunities. This position works directly with a partner of the firm.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Business or Communications or Marketing
  • Excellent Relationship Development Skills / Ability to easily navigate a conversation with a CEO
  • Excellent Business Communication Skills – verbal and written
  • Graceful Persistence
  • Focused with strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Outreach via phone / email to connect with qualified prospects
  • Improvement and update of phone numbers and emails for prospects
  • Combined use of company-provided and new research of companies (can refer to other team members for assistance)

Qualifications

  • Experienced in cold calling
  • Ease of speaking to CEOs and creating relationships
  • PC skills in using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Working familiarity with a CRM
  • At least 5 years of work experience in financial roles
  • At least 1 year at a M&A firm, VC firm, or a financial role

  • On-Site in West Los Angeles / Brentwood / 90025 / Flexible Hours

Compensation

  • Compensation commensurate with Skills
  • Eligible for Excellent Bonuses

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
