NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range
- Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking to hire a Facilities Engineering Project Manager within Department 4131 Capital Acquisition (CapAx) Program Management to co-lead an Integrated Project Team (IPT) to conduct project initiation phase planning and execution of Line Item (LI) projects!
This position will work closely with representatives from technical organizations to articulate the capabilities and requirements of capital investment projects necessary to meet the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) current and future strategic objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring projects adhere to DOE Order 413.3b, primarily in support of Critical Decision 0 (CD-0) Approve Mission Need.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Collaborate with a matrixed team of internal Subject Matter Experts, CapAx Line customers, Contractors, Facilities Managers, and other external customers to translate strategic needs into executable requirements for capital projects.
- Understand and set the project’s technical design requirements for space, facilities, and utilities in accordance with the respective security, operational, safety, and environmental constraints
- Apply technical expertise to evaluate capability of existing sites, facilities, and infrastructure to meet programmatic needs.
- Apply project management skills including project plan development and execution, project monitoring and control, and integrated change control for large, complex, and high-rigor projects.
- Be accountable for the project’s alignment to DOE O 413.3b requirements and primary point of contact to NNSA project execution counterparts.
- Develop and implement the project’s human resource plan including organizational planning, resource acquisition, and team development.
- Prepare and present concise and accurate reports which highlight key technical and programmatic issues and summarize information at a manageable level.
This position does not have any direct reports.
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business plus five (5) years of demonstrated experience in Facilities Program/Project Management; or a Master’s degree in relevant discipline plus one (1) year of demonstrated experience in Facilities Project Management; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
- Experience with DOE O 413.3b, preferably as a Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager, or Control Account Manager.
- Experience with capital project planning activities within the initiation and scoping phases.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification.
- Excellent communicator who can articulate needs, deadlines, and risks to internal and external customers.
- Insight into the processes and missions of Sandia’s mission support organizations that collaborate with Capital Projects.

Security Clearance
