LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Full-time, Grade 22 Range is $76,877-$111,724. FLSA Exempt
Tooele City is located 30 minutes southwest of Salt Lake City. We are known for our view of the Great Salt Lake, the beautiful Oquirrh Mountains, and as a hub for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Our City has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade providing amenities of a larger city yet maintaining a rural, family feel. Our population is estimated at 35,000.
As an appointed member of the Mayor's executive staff, the Library Director performs a wide range of professional, administrative, and supervisory duties related to the planning, organizing, and controlling of the overall operations of the Tooele City Library.
The Library Director takes under advisement recommendations from a nine (9) member Library Board that is appointed by the City Council and Mayor.
Candidate should possess excellent leadership, management, people, political, marketing, and technology skills. We will be looking for applicants who have at least a high school diploma and seven (7) years experience in a mid- to upper-management capacity. Experience must include responsibility for budget, staff management, and making complex decisions. For applicants with strong management experience but lacking specific library management experience, please include in your cover letter why you will be able to quickly learn technical operations of library services.
Our desired qualifications include: Tooele City residency (or commitment to relocate to Tooele area); bi-lingual Spanish/English speaking abilities; and advanced education such as a bachelor's or master's degree in library science, business administration, political science, computer information services, or specialized technical training in library sciences through formal training program(s). Three (3) years of experience in public library administration is also highly desired.
