Job description

1. Answering telephone; shares duties with three other staff members in fielding general property tax inquiries resulting from mailings, citations, judgment notices, sheriff sales, payoff requests from property owners, title companies.

2. Responding to mail inquiries, faxes and emails – shares duties with three other staff members in responding to requests for payoff and all other inquiries about mailings, lawsuits, sheriff sales, payoff requests and general inquiries.

3. Litigation support – enters notes into Oracle system, keeps track of returned citations; assists attorneys in setting cases for trial and managing trial docket; assists attorneys in researching addresses for re-issued citations; assists attorneys in preparation of pleadings, motions and other legal documents; issues/reissues citations and sends citations to constables for service of process and tracks service of citations; prepares orders of sale; prepares sheriff sale bid sheets; liaisons with sheriff’s department in coordinating sheriff sales; prepare documents related to sheriff’s sales; transmits sheriff sale results each month.

4. Taxpayer Liaison – shares duties with three other staff members in meeting with property owners in response to mailings, lawsuits, sheriff sales (the Texas City office has a large number of walk-ins); this position and three other staff members share duties in taking payments from property owners making installment payments; logs payments into Oracle check tracking; maintains log sheet of payments sent to tax office for processing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33,280.00 - $35,360.00 per year
