The Quality Lab Specialist performs a wide variety of tasks to ensure compliance of quality requirements of machined metal parts.

Major Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform various quality lab tasks for 2nd shift operations.
  • Primary task is to use CMM equipment to inspect parts.
  • Back up for performing mechanical properties testing for incoming raw material or components and process verification; inform and aid manifacturing personnel in adjusting the process in to control in order to meet specifications
  • Perform uniformity testing for all ovens and furnaces when needed
  • Assist in training of inspection personnel in related duties.
  • Prepare specimens for metallographic inspection.
  • Interface with customer personnel as situations warrant.
  • Ensure all inspection process documentation and drawings are valid and current, including latest revision(s) level.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Utilize statistical techniques to analyze inspection data.
  • Interface with other departments to help establish inspection priorities to maintain production workflow.

Basic Qualifications:

Required Education:
High School Diploma

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to:
    • read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
    • apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer skills with Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, including statistical analysis.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and work not only in a team setting but also independently as well.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
