Superior Cam, Inc. is a modern, full-service state-of-the-art die assembly facility founded in 1989. We emphasize the utilization of CAD, CAM, and CNC to service domestic and foreign automotive manufactures, major Tier One suppliers, and a variety of North American stamping facilities.

Tool and Die Maker Role

The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for grinding, filing, sanding and polishing the surfaces of metal working die members into specific shapes and smoothness; brushing blue pigment on ridged contour machined surfaces of die member; grinding down ridges with power hand grinder until only traces of blue pigment remain; and blue sticks master die members of outer panels to a smooth finish. The Tool and Die Maker is also responsible for reviewing design prints, operating cut off saws, setting up and operating precision die shop equipment; manufacturing details such as machining, grinding, fitting, dripping, reaming and counter boring holes to dimensions; blocking die assemblies for 3D and profiles; finalizing assembly after heat treat; and assembling the die for dry run buy off.

• Follows the Die Build Process
• Strives towards completing tasks and jobs within the original estimated hours
• Supports the Quality System
• Promotes shop safety
• Has knowledge of Die Tryout techniques

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Experience with die shop standards and equipment operation
• knowledge of EDM (Conventional and Wire)
• Experience in the Tool and Die industry
• Knowledge of geometric dimension and tolerances
• experience with die layout
• Experience with Boring Mill and Conventional Mill operation
• SPC
• Hands on shop experience
• Read and interpret die deigns
• Must be able to work with others as a member of a team
• CERTIFIED JOURNEYMAN DIE MAKER AND OR TOOL AND DIE MAKER (DESIRED)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Direct hire
• Full Time (50-55 hours per week)
• Weekdays:
• 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 12 AM / 5:30 PM - 4 AM
• Weekends (if scheduled):
• 2nd Shift: 12 PM - 6 PM

Work Environment

Work is performed mostly in a manufacturing and or factory setting. Individuals will be regularly exposed to noise and moving mechanical parts.
