The Human Resources Recruiting Specialist is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats.
Position Objective:
The Human Resources Recruiting Specialist coordinates and facilitates the recruitment, screening, placement activities, onboarding and administration for all Summer Staff (“SS”), Outdoor Science School (“OSS”) and Intern positions in a manner consistent with Mount Hermon Association, Inc’s ("MHA") mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct.
- Oversee and act as subject matter expert for the online application and onboarding platform and process, including training other MHA staff to effectively utilize the platform.
- Partner with hiring managers/supervisors to strategize and implement workforce planning needs and activities, including but not limited to, posting SS and OSS employment and Intern requisitions in a timely manner and coordinating candidate interview activities, (distributing information and materials to candidates and MHA supervisors) in preparation for interviews.
- Coordinate SS recruiting efforts, including developing timelines and coordinating travel schedules with MHA staff for recruiting trips, participating in recruiting trips as needed, coordinating with college and universities to develop relationships and recruiting efforts, including on-campus visits, posting jobs online and and working with Marketing staff to develop and distribute SS marketing materials.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding hiring logistics, performance evaluations, housing, etc., for SS and OSS Staff.
- Oversee the distribution, collection, processing and retention of personnel forms for SS and OSS staff, as well as for Interns and document recruiting processes, prepare reports and provide metrics to management as needed.
- Enter all new hire and rehire hiring details and upload personnel documents to Payroll.
- Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to work with hiring supervisors and seasonal leaders to ensure compliance with employment and labor laws as well as to ensure a positive environment and spiritual growth for SS and OSS staff and Interns and their communities.
- Handle administrative details when HR Coordinator is not present including, but not limited to, processing personnel documents, onboarding and assisting managers and walk-ins, etc.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Human Resources.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
No direct supervisory responsibilities but may direct the work of a Volunteer on occasion.
Education:
- Some college preferred.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ prior experience with sourcing, recruiting, and screening applicants and providing recommendations to hiring managers required.
- Previous camp experience desirable.
- Previous experience in an administrative setting preferred.
- Experience with applicant tracking and onboarding software desirable.
- Experience with Human Resources Management Systems preferrable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Proficiency with Microsoft based applications (e.g. Word, Excel) as well as Google documents, sheets and forms, with an aptitude and ability to learn new software programs and database platforms.- Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Must possess high attention to detail.
- Superior interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills—ability to handle a busy and demanding work environment in a diplomatic, efficient and graceful manner.
- Knowledge and understanding of current employment and labor laws desired.
- Ability to use a combination of intuition and reasoned judgment in assessing suitability of candidates regarding theological and cultural fit as well as job-related criteria.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and ability to troubleshoot issues independently with minimum supervision; ability to respond quickly to changes.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and escalate issues to supervisor when appropriate.
- Knowledge and awareness of camp regulations and how changes may influence staffing and/or training a plus.
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements include those required to meet the key job accountabilities.
- Requires keyboarding and sitting for extended periods.
- Requires standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and the ability to lift 25lbs.
- The physical environment requires the employee to occasionally work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Evening and/or weekends may be required on occasion. Vacation blackout May 1 - June 30.
- Occasional travel required.
- Attendance at various staff meetings and staff activities required.
- May be asked to assist in other areas of the ministry as needed.
- Adherence to and modeling of the basic principles as expressed in MHA's mission, vision, culture code and standards of conduct.
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
