The HR Assistant is responsible for the initial onboarding experience for team members. This role communicates with new hires and provides guidance on the onboarding process and timeline. Position oversees the HR files and ensures they are complete. Communicates frequently with recruiters and hiring managers to ensure a smooth transition from applicant status to team member. Position is entrusted with a variety of confidential information and requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. Assures compliance with state regulations as well as federal and state employment laws.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Frequent communication with recruiter, hiring managers, and new hires to coordinate start dates and onboarding.
  • Proactively follows up with new hires to ensure receipt of all paperwork.
  • Conducts all background screenings, reference checks, and license verifications prior to start date. .
  • Meets with new team members to review policies, payroll, handbook, and provide an overview of all benefits.
  • Conducts wage and employment verifications for current and former team members.
  • Assists team members with general questions about policies, benefits and payroll.
  • Enters all new hires into UKG in a timely manner.
  • Performs regular audits of files to ensure compliance.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • 1+ year HR Experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations governing Human Resources.
  • Ability to maintain and strengthen good working relationships with staff and residents.
  • Possess good skills in planning, organizing and directing.
  • Ability to deal directly and frequently with staff at all levels of the organization and to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in computerized timekeeping and HRIS systems.
