The Department of Athletics at Michigan State University is searching for a Head Women's Basketball Coach to direct, plan, and manage all aspects of a successful Big Ten Conference Women’s Basketball program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Assistant Coaches/Associate Head Coaches, as well as direct Women’s Basketball support staff.
  • Oversight of the recruiting process, including the identification, evaluation, recruitment, and retention of top prospective student-athletes that can be successful in the classroom, in competition and in the community
  • Establish and support a program culture to successfully foster athletic, academic, and social growth for student-athletes and staff
  • Develop and motivate student-athletes for them to attain the highest levels of success in all phases of their academic and intercollegiate athletic experience
  • Manage the operational budget while demonstrating fiscal responsibility and support of cost containment initiatives
  • Collaborate with the development office to identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit donor prospects for the sport and intercollegiate athletics
  • Work collaboratively with all department units, university personnel, conference personnel, NCAA personnel and sport-specific organizations as an ambassador for MSU
  • Uphold integrity and honor to ensure the women’s basketball program is a point of pride for the athletic department, institution, and conference by being compliant with institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Provide leadership in support of the mission and core values of MSU Athletics and University
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of five years of intercollegiate head coaching experience with successful recruiting, coaching, and teaching of highly talented student-athletes in women’s basketball.
  • A demonstrated commitment to adhering to all the policies, rules, and regulations of MSU, the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Successful intercollegiate head coaching (or other high level) experience at the Division I level in women’s basketball.
