So it is our pleasure to announce that we are currently seeking a full-time candidate for the role of Grounds Worker / Laborer to join our team!

By ICL definition, a Grounds Worker / Laborer is someone who is responsible for maintaining the appearance and condition of grounds, walkways, and internal roadways of assigned facility locations by performing a variety of grounds maintenance, gardening, and manual labor duties, using a variety of hand power tools and various equipment. – activities, tasks, and equipment/vehicle usage vary according to the season and individual needs of the program.

To be considered for this role, you MUST first adhere to and understand the requirements and tasks listed below…

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Available Monday to Friday (7:30am – 4pm)
• High School Diploma or G.E.D./H.S.E. Certificate – otherwise, a company assessment test is provided
• 1-2 years of groundskeeping and laborer experience – knowledge in gardening and maintenance preferred
• OSHA 30 Certified - a plus but not mandatory
• Knowledge of responsible tool usage – e.: chainsaws, lawnmowers, snow blowers, pruning equip., and more
• Heavy Lifting, Pushing & Pulling of 50+ lbs – the ability to bend, kneel, squat, and stand for long periods is a MUST
• Knowledge of safety and basic information related to groundskeeping and laborer work
• Following all safety guidelines in accordance with the performance of tasks mentioned
• Strong communication and conveying skills – bi-lingual is a plus but not mandatory
• Proper attire at all times – this includes work pants, boots, and outer/inner wear with the ICL company logo

GROUNDS KEEPING TASKS:

• Maintain tool inventory – ensure all tools return to the site at the end of the day
• Cut, rake, sweep, shovel, re-sod, and repair lawn by removing debris, leaves, branches, etc.
• Debris & Trash Removal: split logs and load trucks for departure and remove trash from site grounds, roads, walkways, and parking lots
• Repair, paint, or remove garden fences when needed
• Water the grounds, including bushes, plants, and trees
• Check the correct operation of water sprinkler systems – report any deficiencies to higher-level staff
• Clears sites, preparing them for sign installations and planting using gardening methods: raking, tilling the soil, digging, and so on
• Remove and plow snow and ice from walkways, roads, and parking lots by shoveling and operating snow removal equipment
• PLEASE NOTE: in accordance with applicable policy, you may be assigned to apply pesticides or fertilizer

LABORER TASKS:

• Responsibly move, load and unload furniture onto trucks
• Perform routine building and minor maintenance work on tools and power machines
• Construct or remove snow fences and markers at fire hydrants and catch basins
• Mix, apply, and/or break up concrete/asphalts to repair / patch holes
• Mix salt, sand, and calcium for use on walkways
• Return signed work order paperwork at the end of each workday
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned in an organized and detail-oriented manner
