Job Description Summary

The IH Leader will provide support to the Aerospace team to ensure that we are assessing and controlling exposure risks during research activities. Additionally, this leader will be working closely with the business teams to address exposure concerns, across the site, during new equipment installations and during changes or modifications to existing research activities to ensure all federal, state, and local health & safety regulatory and site management system requirements are met.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Engage cross-functionally with business team members to understand and address risks associated with new or modified facilities or processes, new or relocated machinery, apparatus, and equipment, and/or the introduction of new products to the center
• Work cross-functionally with technology team members and business EHS functions to assess and control occupational exposure risk
• Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to minimize health and safety risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and influence system design or installation design to ensure to alignment with industry / company best practice
• Communicate difficult concepts and influence outcomes
• Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational responsibility
• Influences the development of strategy for the areas of operational responsibility including control of resources, budget, policy development and management
• Provides training in areas of operational responsibility for GE Aerospace team members
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement and EHS excellence
• May lead cross-functional teams or project
• Other generalist responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or Environmental Health Science discipline from an accredited university or college; or professional certification as an industrial hygienist
• 5-10 years progressive EHS experience
• Demonstrated technical expertise in managing risks associated with chemical exposures, nano technology hazards, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation exposures, noise exposure, Legionella and other microbiological health hazards, asbestos, dust hazards, ergonomic hazards, etc.
