Boeing Commercial Airplanes is hiring an Experienced or Senior Auxiliary Systems Engineer (Level 3, 4, or 5) to support Propulsion System Engineering in Long Beach, CA.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Experienced and Senior Auxiliary Systems Engineers.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads definition of requirements for auxiliary power systems.
  • Leads definition, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the auxiliary power system and the vehicle.
  • Leads development of specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads configuration of auxiliary power systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.
  • Leads the use of various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate auxiliary power system performance.
  • Leads the definition and performance of certification tests for auxiliary power systems and components.
  • Leads support of fielded auxiliary power systems by developing responses to customer queries and providing technical recommendations.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and external partners to drive successful collaborations on auxiliary power system change projects
  • Coordinates with internal partners such as Propulsion Stress, Engine Management, Flight Test, and Propulsion Service Engineering to meet project goals and schedules successfully.
  • Leads technical Interchange meetings with suppliers and partners such as the Auxiliary Power Systems manufacturer.
  • Communicates project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to Propulsion and Program Leadership.
  • Partners with other engineering disciplines to provide technical solutions and troubleshooting of the auxiliary power system for customers.
  • Works under minimal direction

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Design, systems engineering, Model Based Engineering, system integration, requirements management, propulsion engineering, and turbo machinery

Typical Education/Experience:

Experienced (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work
experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Experienced (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700

Senior (Level 4): $121,550 - $164,450

Senior (Level 5): $147,900 - $200,100
