The Teacher is a highly qualified, state certified educator which is responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment partnership. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance manages the learning process and focuses on students’ individual needs. The teacher monitors student progress through Canvas' learning management system. They actively work closely with students and parents/Learning Coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals. Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school.

Instructional:
Takes ownership of students’ academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations, and showing active interest in students’ achievements.
Conducts live synchronous whole group instruction and small group teaching, as needed.
Asynchronously supports objectives, including composing/sending emails, planning course
objectives, preparing learning plans and using data to determine student needs.
Collaborates with local/regional/national teams and teacher trainers regarding instruction, resources, interventions, and data-driven decisions making.
Makes self available to be coached on a regular basis with administrators and teacher trainers.
Under guidance from principal and coach, augments course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools.
Assess students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding students’ progress, expectations, goals, etc., and maintaining a fair and consistent grade book.
Makes placement and promotion decisions by generating formal and informal reports regarding student progress, alerts administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
Ability to promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities.
Select teaching strategies emphasizing student involvement and engagement.
Participates in IEP and pre-referral teams for students with special needs.
Provides classroom accommodations and modi?cations as outlined in 504 plans or IEPs. Plans di?erentiated instruction to support all levels of learners.
Communication and Relationship Building:
Communicate course goals and academic expectations to all stakeholders. Responds to students, parents/Learning Coaches, and colleagues in a timely manner.
Works collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully
progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and those tasks are distributed among the stakeholders.
Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents on an ongoing regular basis.
Conduct regular conferences with parents/responsible adults and students to assess each child’s progress, learning style, and any other academic, social, or developmental issues. Conduct regular conferencing sessions for students and/or teaching adults on academic topics of need or interest.
Organize service-learning opportunities that support student development. Facilitates student clubs, monthly community, and social events as needed. The teacher actively participates in PLCs, required meetings, assessments, ORventures, and other school outings to generate solutions to concerns and to support students, families, the school mission, and vision.
Elementary and Middle School Teachers support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment, in line with academy policies and procedures.
Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.
Attend regular staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees. Represent the school and district at community, State, and professional meetings and conferences.
Maintain appropriate levels of communication with the Special Programs staff in regard to shared students and comply with accommodations and modifications of student plans.
Collaborate with Special Programs staff regarding development and planning of lessons to ensure scaffolding, including instructional strategies, for student learning styles and skills.
Supports students and learning coaches with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment including basic computer troubleshooting.
Demonstrates understanding of how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support.
Support EVA administrators with school information sessions.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree AND:
Six (6) months of student teaching experience AND
Meet requirements for Highly Quali?ed Teacher (HQT) in subject area under No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate state teaching certification.
Other Required Qualifications:
Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical thinking. Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align those with the StrongMind curriculum.
Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes. Ability to problem-solve independently and have a high level of organization.
Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects and able to act to preserve integrity on other people's deadlines.
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, as defined by the school.
Ability to travel as required (on average once per month and/or approximately 10% of the time) for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and as required by the school.
Access to reliable high-speed internet.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in systems, programs, and curriculum.
Ability to clear required background check.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with proposed age group.
Experience working in a virtual environment and all the technology that is used in this setting.
Experience with Zoom, Canvas, or other online platforms.
