Your Impact:


Jacobs is looking for a dynamic Drinking Water Compliance Coordinator to join the Technical Services Group of Operations Management & Facilities Services (OMFS). You'll report to the Compliance & Reporting group’s Drinking Water Compliance Manager and provide direct support to Jackson Mississippi water treatment facilities and other projects within the OMFS portfolio to achieve compliance with the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) as well as with State implementation of the SDWA. You'll be an initiative-taking compliance professional capable of working independently as well as supervising a small team of field technicians and technical professionals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and training to assure that compliance staffing, systems, processes and methods are in place to meet the requirements of state and federal regulations
  • Coordinate with State Regulators on behalf of OMFS Projects
  • Coordinate with the C&R Team, OMFS Delivery, the Technical Services Group and other resources to plan, coordinate and execute actions to achieve compliance with the SDWA and deal with issues of non-compliance and the consequences of non-compliance.
  • Develop, implement and maintain programs, systems and procedures necessary to improve compliance and reporting, especially as a result of action items identified through audits, support visits or other investigations.
  • Responsible for conducting an internal Project Specific Sanitary Surveys (PS3s), support and training.
  • Assist OMFS Projects with the development and approval of monitoring plans, Sample Tracking Tools and Consumer Confidence Reports.
  • Provides technical support, training (including webinars), development of standard procedures, assist with water quality compliance sample collection, analysis and data review, review of regulations and permits, OMFS compliance review of preliminary excursions, support of project staff regarding communication with regulators and technical advice. Coordinates with the C&R Team in laboratory, biosolids, RMP, water and wastewater disciplines to identify appropriate experts, including outside of the C&R Team, to support correcting all identified issues in a timely manner.
  • Obtain documentation, or other means of verification, that issues have been resolved, or makes suggested adjustments to the appropriate Action Plan specific to an audit with the concurrence of the Director of Environmental Compliance
  • Elevate issues that have not been resolved on time or in a satisfactory manner to the Director of Environmental Compliance, with supporting documentation, including hosting a Tier 3 call.
  • Other duties as specified or directed.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience required.
  • Advance writing and communication skills
  • In depth knowledge of state and federal drinking water laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of water treatment plant operations. High level certification in water preferred.
  • Experience with compliance issues and regulatory agency interactions.
  • Advance proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Valid U.S. State Driver License with no major infraction
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment and training will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Must be able to work with constant deadlines, under pressure, and overtime.
  • Requires up to 40 percent travel.
