AAY Security is a provider of professionally trained armed and unarmed security officers to petrochemical, refinery, and maritime facilities in the Texas Gulf Coast region. The successful candidate will start as a key member of the business leadership team partnering with the CEO and Chief Learning Officer. He/she must be comfortable in a high-performing, fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to produce meaningful outcomes, with unquestionable integrity and an uncompromising commitment to quality.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provides leadership and oversight to a team of security professionals responsible for securing six MTSA regulated facilities.
  • Provide advanced leadership, development and direction to site Project Managers and their subordinate supervisors.
  • Provides oversight in the development of policies and security protocols around client FSP.
  • Provides oversight in assuring that all contractual and developmental training requirements are met.
  • Frequently interacts with client facility management, as appropriate.
  • Articulates AAY’s goals and objectives to all security stakeholders, and
  • Ensures that communications emanating from the client site to company management are accurate, timely, detailed, and appropriate when handling sensitive content.
  • Exhibits a balance in correcting employee shortcomings and recognizing employee achievements.


Measures of success:

At an appropriate interval after joining AAY, the items listed below will initially define success for the new Director - Operations.

  • Strong, collaborative relationships have been established with Project Managers and in the AAY community, including administrative departments.
  • Communications emanating from client sites are timely, accurate, detailed, and appropriate given sensitive content.
  • Security personnel report positive job satisfaction and “We are working toward common goals”, teamwork is prevalent, and professional development opportunities are in process.
  • The Director exhibits a positive attitude and is engaged with security personnel.
  • The Director has established a sense of situational awareness, and “surprises” are at a minimum; as a result, corporate leadership is consistently informed and is not caught off guard on critical matters.

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a MTSA facility, or a combination of prior critical infrastructure security, law enforcement, and/or military service with a security MOS.


Additional requirements include:

  • Strong business acumen.
  • Prefers hands-on rather than a delegator.
  • Fulfillment of all state required Security Officer requirements/licensing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Front-line security supervisor or higher-level management experience.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Education

Ideally, the successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree. BS/BA in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Sociology, Business Administration). An advanced degree will be considered a plus.


Compensation

AAY will provide an attractive compensation package, including a competitive base salary, and performance bonus attributable to Company performance results and achievement of certain individual goals.


Working Conditions

Must be able to work outside, exposed to all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Standing and walking will be required throughout the course of a normal day. The wearing of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, shoes, a ballistic vest and a hard hat will be required. Required to observe all safety and health requirements for Company and client operations.


Hours

Normal working hours are generally Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with exceptions made for activities related directly to Company or client operations or needs. Exceptions may include extended shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
