SALARY: $110,000 - $120,000
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Development, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the creation and distribution of collateral materials, website oversight, social media and e-communications efforts, digital marketing, direct mail, media relations activities and content development. The Director of Marketing and Communications will set and accomplish goals, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, work with a diverse team and work independently.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Demonstrate a passion and commitment for the Mission and Vincentian Core Values of Maryvale and the Daughters of Charity.

- Promote and support the attitudes, behaviors, knowledge and skills necessary to work respectfully and effectively with each other as well as demonstrate the ability to address the needs of the children and families Maryvale serves.
- Follow the Trauma Informed Care philosophy when communicating the needs of the children and families Maryvale serves.
- Utilize Trauma Informed Care approach in recognizing the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledge the role that trauma has played in the lives of the clients/residents.
- Assist in the healing process by developing appropriate RICH® (Respect, Information, Connection and Hope) relationships with those served.
- Follow Universal Precautions when exposed to blood and body fluids.
- Follow Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations pertaining to safety and the use of equipment/machinery.
- Support Maryvale’s Performance and Quality Improvement Plan and participate in discussion regarding department or program goals, data collection and/or analysis.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- In conjunction with the Vice President of Development, assist in developing a comprehensive and measurable marketing and promotional plan to enhance visibility and increase community awareness of the Maryvale mission, programs and services.
- In conjunction with the Vice President of Development, assist in developing a comprehensive fundraising marketing/communication plan to enhance visibility, increase community awareness to raise more revenue to support the Maryvale mission.
- In conjunction with the Vice President of Development, create and maintain timelines, budgets and analytics.
- Develop and implement a consistent messaging and branding strategy. Ensure the implementation of marketing and communication plans.
- Develop brand guidelines and ensure consistent adherence to guidelines for all marketing materials including brochures, newsletters, case studies, and data sheets.
- Responsible for strategic direction and execution of all internal and external communications.
- Responsible for the development and design of Maryvale programmatic marketing material and collateral.
- Manage web site development and Internet advertising.
- Manage social media outreach efforts involving creating, posting, and analyzing social media content including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook.
- Manage media relations, including researching, writing, and editing press releases. Develop relationships with media contacts to promote Maryvale and secure coverage of events, projects, and programs.
- Ability to work with photographers and videographers to create necessary materials.
- Design and distribute customer satisfaction surveys, conduct interviews with key constituents, and conduct constituent segmentation analysis.
- Manage the writing and design of fundraising and development communications and stewardship collateral for fundraising events, newsletters, direct appeals, etc.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Maryvale and its programs to address the mission of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in marketing and/or communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Exceptional technical writing skills with samples of case studies, brochures, white papers, etc.
- Technology savvy with experience overseeing web development and maintenance. Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) experience required.
- Demonstrate keen understanding of marketing/digital marketing and analytics, social and traditional media experience in a nonprofit or corporate environment.
- Strong people/interpersonal skills. Comfortable with making public presentations and approaching people and developing relationships.
- Strong project management and managing databases skills required.
- Able to develop and manage a marketing budget; tracking results of each initiative.
- Creative thinker with ability to manifest ideas into cohesive and understandable marketing assets.
- Positive, proactive and personable team player with a sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
- Excellent writing/editing, proofreading, oral communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate quickly and persuasively (especially in writing) a compelling case for supporting Maryvale.
- Demonstrated self-starter with creative, problem solving and analytic thinking skills.
- Proficient organizational skills enabling the management of multiple projects with a demonstrated ability to complete tasks within established time frames.

Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance - Premiums for Associates are covered 100% by the agency. Maryvale offers HMO medical, DHMO dental and a vision plan for full-time Associates. Maryvale pays for 50% of dependent coverage if Associates wish to add dependents to the insurance plans. PPO medical and dental plans are available upon request for additional cost.
Holiday Pay - Maryvale recognizes 10 full-day paid holidays, and 1 Holiday of Choice each calendar year (Regular part-time employees receive pro-rated time).
Vacation - Maryvale recognizes the value of rest and relaxation and encourages Associates to take time off with their families. Regular full-time Associates accrue paid vacation leave according to the following schedule:
- 1 to 3 years of service - 10 working days per year
- 4 to 7 years of service - 15 working days per year
- 8 years or more of service - 20 working days per year
Sick Time - Associates accrue sick time at 1 hour for each 28.9 hours of work.
Life Insurance - Maryvale pays for a basic Life & Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance Policy that pays beneficiaries a flat $25,000 death benefit.
401(k) Pension Plan - Associates are eligible to enroll in the 401(k) Retirement Plan on the first day of the month after their hire date.
- Match of Employee Contributions: After completing one year of service, Maryvale will match 100% of an Associate’s salary deferral up to a maximum of the first 3% (1%-3%). In addition, Maryvale will match 66% of an Associate’s salary deferral up to a maximum of the next 3% (3%-6%).
- Non-Elective Contribution: After an Associate completes one full year of service, Maryvale on the Associate’s behalf, will begin making a fixed non-elective contribution equal to 3% of the Associate’s income. This contribution is separate from the matching contribution and vests over a 5 year period.
Long Term Disability Insurance - Maryvale offers Long Term Disability Insurance to all benefits-eligible Associates at no cost to the Associate. Maryvale pays the full premium for these benefits which provide salary protection in the event an Associate becomes disabled for an extended period of time.
