Dental Assistant for (Mobile Dental Van)
- Rotates to 3 clinics (2 Rosenberg, 1 Alief)
Assist student patient Pre-K- 12th grade
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) X-ray Certification with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required
- Current Texas Driver's license required
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- One (1) year of experience as a dental assistant or dental technician; Pediatric experience preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Access preferred
- Bilingual preferred

Principal Accountabilities
- Prepares patients for treatment, including seating, charting patient's mouth and maintaining complete dental histories.
- Assists the dentist with all dental procedures, i.e. restorations, alloy, composite, glass ionomer, extractions, periodontal, surgical, sealant application and other procedures as needed.
- Exposes, develops and mounts x-rays of diagnostic quality.
- Employs acceptable sterilization (OSHA) techniques. Properly cleans, bags, and sterilizes instruments. Properly cleans and disinfects counters, chairs, stools, equipment and floor of mobile dental unit. Cares for and maintains operatory, ultrasonic, chemical sterilizer, and radiology equipment daily. Oils all hand pieces and cleans air and vacuum lines.
- Keeps accurate dental records and charts.
- Schedules patients. Uses computer to check for Medicaid eligibility. Accurately enters patient information into computer.
- Performs dental health education classes in school.
- Drives mobile unit to treatment site, observing traffic laws.
- Upon relocation at a new site, makes all electrical and plumbing connections, ensures equipment is operable, and replenishes solutions.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
