Cover & Rossiter, an award-winning CPA advisory firm recognized for providing high-quality advice and personalized service is seeking an experienced Controller in Wilmington, DE. This position is for individuals with 5-7 years of accounting/finance related experience.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Controller s principal duties are to perform and manage all required accounting, billing, accounts payable, and human resource functions of the company in a timely and accurate manner.
CORE COMPETENCIES
The Controller s primary function at Cover & Rossiter is that of service to Management, Employees, and Client alike. Through the efforts of the Controller, all accounting and human resource procedures and functions are managed. The Controller has responsibility for all financial records, payroll, human resource/benefits, billing/customer service, accounts payable, banking and daily operation of the department. The position involves supervision, both directly and indirectly, over billing and accounts payable functions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to perform these principal duties, the following must be properly fulfilled:
- Have complete and thorough knowledge of all accounting functions
- Must have thorough knowledge of GL accounting software and the billing systems of the company. Proficient with other software for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and other accounting analyses that may be required by management
- Prepare monthly company financials
- Develop, analyze, and interpret accounting information to be reviewed monthly by Directors and Managers. Arrange and hold monthly review meeting.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the annual budget
- Evaluate and recommend insurance coverages: business, property and employee. Maintain relationship with all insurance brokers
- Responsible for all banking relationships and maintain daily balances
- Review all accounts payable, develop and maintain company-wide procedures
- Responsible for the processing of semi-monthly payroll and all forms and reporting associated with payroll and all plans.
- Maintain employee personnel files and all related payroll and human resources software
- Process new hire employees with a review of all benefit packages and corporate policies. Procure documentation required for payroll and human resource purposes.
- Maintain staff manual and all accounting, payroll, and human resource forms used company-wide
- Manage billing through close supervision and creating ongoing efficiencies of both software and processes. Establish client-friendly billing and payment process. Strive for minimal errors and reduction in delinquencies by more accurate billing and friendlier customer service
- Develop and manage internal financial controls
DESIRED SKILLS & EDUCATION
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance
- 5-7 years of experience as an accountant with responsibility for budgeting, finance, and time and billing
- Well-Developed interpersonal skills & management skills
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Ability to operate independently and self-manage projects
- Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with probability and growth
- Analytical Experience
- Strong Systems skills: Sage, QuickBooks, etc.
- Experience in a professional service industry, preferably a CPA firm
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
