Job Summary:

FOCUS Broadband is seeking a skilled Construction Technician. As a Construction Technician, you must operate equipment such as locators, trenchers, backhoes, boring equipment, and burying service drops at customer locations. In some instances, you may operate other heavy equipment as needed. The Construction Technician should be able to read and interpret maps, operating and maintenance manuals. Responsible for routine care and scheduling maintenance of assigned equipment. Must safely and legally operate a truck with a trailer with a Class A CDL license.

• May assist with burying service drops using trenchers and other digging equipment at customer locations.
• Frequently uses hand tools such as shovels, spades, rakes, etc. to finish work and confined areas.
• May operate a truck with a trailer attached.
• Locates FOCUS Broadband facilities as needed.
• Knowledge of telephone plant and line construction process.
• Skill in operating various heavy machinery and construction equipment.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts professionally and courteously.
• Ability to effectively function as a team player.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
• Ability to report to work regularly and punctually.
• Ability to work overtime both with and without notice as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous heavy equipment operation experience is required.
• 10-hour Osha (Construction) is preferred
• Flagger Certification is preferred
• Must be available for flexible work schedules. Example: day shift, night shift, weekends, on-call, overtime.
• Valid Commercial Class A Driver’s License (CDL) required or ability to achieve within 12 months.
