Job description
The Board of Correction seeks an enthusiastic, part-time Policy & Communications Associate with a passion for engaging stakeholders in the Board’s initiatives and providing strategic and creative communications to promote the Board’s goals. Under the direction of the Director of Policy & Communications, the Associate will be responsible for producing internal and external communications, drafting standard operating procedures for the Policy & Communications Unit, and assisting with public meeting operations.

- Draft external and internal communications in support of the Board’s mission and strategic direction
- Support the coordination of forums, workshops, and conference engagements with stakeholders and partners
- Support the development and production of standard operating procedures, reports, articles, presentations, scripts, talking points, testimony, web content, social media content, and press releases in a clear and concise fashion
- Manage public relations, information output, press releases and media requests, social media and/or advertising efforts
- Upload documents to agency website, City portals, and social media accounts; serve on website redesign committee
- Participate in a variety of special projects assigned by the Director of Policy & Communications, as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

- Demonstrated experience supporting senior level staff and successfully managing special projects.

- Ability to work well independently and on a team.
- Experience planning and executing networking events, webinars, public forums, and/or conferences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and strong internet research skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner with discretion and integrity.
- People with direct experience with the criminal justice system, including former incarceration, are encouraged to apply. Time in correctional or related facility may be substituted for a portion of the required experience, up to a maximum of two years.

- Investigate serious incidents
- Review grievances from people in custody and staff

- Make recommendations on areas of key correctional planning.
