Job description
Serves as primary liaison between the doctor and patient. Responsible for communicating with patients, assessing and evaluating their needs and advising the patients of the recommended actions/course of treatment as directed by the Physician. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Current RN license in Missouri required.
  • Experience: Two years general nursing experience required.
  • Certifications: Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
  • Other: Complies with accepted professional standards and practice. Understands Hospice philosophy; principles related to death and dying and pain management. Complies with Mercy Health Services Hospice Health Status requirements. Has excellent observation, good nursing assessment and communication skills. Has ability to provide good written documentation in a timely manner. Is self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision. Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation and has ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Preferred Experience: Recent hospice or long term care experience preferred. Experience with issues related to death/dying and bereavement preferred. One year general nursing experience preferred.
  • Preferred Other: Has basic computer skills as well as a working knowledge of Windows, Word and Outlook.
