Mercy High School, an all-girls college preparatory secondary school has an opening for a part-time (one class) Choir teacher starting in August 2023. Teachers have the opportunity to work in a small school environment, with class sizes ranging from 8-24 students. This position includes only one section at the moment, but Mercy has a strong commitment to expanding our performing arts program.

Reporting to the Visual and Performing Arts department chairperson, the Choir teacher is responsible for the overall coordination of teaching in the Choir classroom, including executing well-developed lesson plans, accurate assessment of student’s progress, participation in department meetings and team planning sessions, supervision of students, willingness to learn new methodology, ability to undertake co-curricular responsibilities.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, successful high school teaching experience, and a demonstrated ability to teach Choir. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in educational technology.

Qualifications for this position

• Fluency in English.

• At least 3 years of high school or middle school teaching experience, preferably in a

college preparatory high school setting.

• Familiarity with student-centered approaches to teaching language.

• Appreciation of teens and understanding of their developmental stages.

• Proficient with educational technology and choir instruction

$ 63,000 -124, 000 pro rata
