A Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care such as, personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support or other personal care, in an acute care setting, as delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse or LPN. Responsible for implementing specific procedures and programs, coordinating work within and among other departments, reporting pertinent information to immediate supervisor, responding to inquiries or requests for information, and assisting immediate supervisor with tasks which support departmental operations. May be required to float to other departments as directed by management, depending on operational needs. Will maintain a safe and clean environment while providing the highest level of customer service to both the patients and families.

TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security

Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information

Maintaining quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies

Knowledge of providing individualized attention and patient care through assisting with daily routine and grooming activities

Exhibit proficient communication skills and ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities

Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy as it pertains to the monitoring and documentation of information

Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients

Providing care which maintains patient’s skin integrity

Performing various intervention tasks assigned by the charge nurse

Ability to lift, move, and transport patients safely

Acknowledging changes in a patient’s condition or behavior, and promptly reporting these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel

Preferred:

Minimum of six months prior nursing assistant experience in a long-term care setting
