We are looking for someone that is passionate about youth and the Church. Someone that is excited to partner with existing volunteers and parents to see the teenagers in our community transformed by the power of Christ. Also, this person should have a passion for the Church as a whole, to see the community of Elkins, WV transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Associate Pastor/Minister Job Expectations:

• Work with church staff to execute a compelling vision to see teens and families encounter Jesus and be transformed by Him.
• This will be done in conjunction with the larger church vision and ministries.
• Work with and through volunteers and student leaders to accomplish this vision.
• Discipleship of students outside of larger group times.
• Care and follow up with students throughout the week.
• Weekly staff meetings where the ministry and direction of the church are planned.
• Our desire is to see all ministries of the church fit and work together to accomplish the greater Kingdom good.
• These staff meetings are a place of open and honest discussion and accountability.
• Participation in the ministries of the entire church where appropriate.
• We desire to see our staff unleashed in their areas of giftedness and competency.
• Participation in the small group ministry of the church.
• Helping to plan and execute church events.
• Outreaches, trainings, fellowship events…
• Participation in the planning and leadership of church’s services and large group gatherings. This includes opportunities for teaching, leading worship, prayer and communion.
• Again, we desire to unleash our staff into their areas of giftedness and competency.

Candidate Requirements:

• Candidate must be licensed or licensable through the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
• Bachelors in a field of ministry or the completion of an equivalency program.
• Must have completed 30 hours of Bible and Theology or the equivalent.
• Candidate is expected to be ordained or consecrated in the Christian and Missionary Alliance or willing and able to be.
• This is a two year process that will be started once licensed through the C&MA, if not already completed.
• We are looking for someone that is passionate about the Word of God and lives a life consistent with the teaching of Scripture.
• The kind of character we are looking for is in keeping with biblical qualifications for leadership found in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1 and 1 Peter 5.
• We believe in character before competency.
• A person that is focused on becoming the person that God created them to be can always learn new skills and grow in competency.
• We believe in the mentorship and development of our staff.
• Candidate must be willing to submit to the leadership and guidance of the elders.
• A passion for students and a desire to see the Church of Elkins become all she is intended to be.
• A desire to partner with other local ministries to see the Kingdom of God advanced.
• Musical abilities are not required but they would be appreciated and utilized.
