This position will be based in Riverside, CA. Full-time (Non-Exempt).

Key Responsibilities of Position

  • Reports to the Director and is responsible to support the organization’s achievement of its mission and organizational objectives.
  • Responsible to act as Director when the Director is absent from the center. Assists with the implementation of policies and programs related to Child Development, Human Resources, enrollment and finance, equipment and facilities, family and community relations, and record-keeping.
  • Ensures that all duties and responsibilities of the Lead Teacher are met in the absence of any Lead Teacher.
  • Assist Director with scheduling staff in accordance with licensing requirements and site needs.
  • Provide assistance in managing all aspects of employee relations for all teaching staff in the center, i.e. participates in pre-screening potential employee, conducts orientation for all new employees, and recommend terminations.
  • Support Director in efforts to increase and maintain enrollment at full capacity.
  • Assist in reviewing the performance of staff, substitutes, student teachers, and volunteers.
  • Responsible for meeting all licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and Title 5.
  • Provides a pleasant, safe, and clean environment for children and staff that is conducive for learning and job satisfaction/development for staff.
  • Oversee the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children.
  • Work with Lead Teachers and Clinic staff to observe, document, meet with families, and make referrals to appropriate services.
  • Using a team approach, oversee the implementation of individual goals and objectives that are set for each child through their IEP or developmental assessment.
  • Collect all childcare and other incidental fees and verify the accuracy of all deliveries.
  • Support Director in efforts to operate the program within the confines of the budget and make recommendations in conjunction with budget planning processes.
  • Provides accurate information. Gives tours of sites and classrooms.
  • Maintains and encourages professional, positive, constructive communication with children, families, and staff.

Qualifications


Required

  • B.A. in Early Childhood Education, Human Development, or related field.
  • At least 2+ years of teaching experience.
  • At least 2+ years of supervision experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience working in a center-based Child Development program.
  • Meet Title 5 and Title 22 requirements to qualify as a fully qualified site director including 3 units of administration and 3 units of infant care.
  • A permit from the Department of Education at the Site Supervision level or higher.
  • Completion of CCL Components 1&3.
  • Knowledge of DRDP, ITERS, CLASS, NAEYC, and ASQ
  • Pass a health screening test, Immunized against: Influenza, Pertussis and Measles, TB test and drug screening

  • Strong oral, written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to bend, lift 40 pounds and carry out the physical duties associated with working with young children.
  • Punctual and Regular Attendance

Additional Requirements:

  • Background Clearance with a Criminal Record and Child Abuse Index Clearance.
  • Exemption-free status with Community Care Licensing for the duration of employment with FSA.
  • Valid California Driver’s License or California ID and proof of Automobile Insurance.
  • Hold and maintain a current and valid pediatric First Aid/CPR (EMSA) card.
  • Travel as needed to agency, community, and state functions.
  • Professional Self Development totaling a minimum of 21 hours annually - Attend workshops, conferences, college classes, or in-service staff development opportunities as recommended and/or provided that enhances skills and knowledge in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and as required to maintain the appropriate and required Child Development Permit, Be QRIS compliant, and/or lead to higher degrees.
