Job Overview:
This position is within Linde US South Region organization and will lead the company’s objective to manage Linde’s current business while working with Linde’s business development organization to develop and invest in projects that grow the top and bottom line. This position has two senior commercial direct reports and is accountable for leading Linde’s efforts with customers and other stakeholders to develop creative solutions/projects which meet our customers’ needs and Linde’s project investment criteria. They will then lead the commercialization of these new Louisiana projects. The candidate will work across several business functions including operations, product management, business development and capital management to ensure business success.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the Louisiana commercial organization in managing the day-to-day business.
- Work creatively with customers and Linde business development to secure new business.
- Develop and support key state, parish and city alliances and partnerships to gain support for Linde investment. Actively build relationships with industry groups and government partners
- Monitor competitive activity and ensure that appropriate response strategies are formulated.
- Lead the business negotiations and execution of customer and third-party agreements
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing the economics and competitive analysis for new investment opportunities and ensure that business objectives around profitability and returns are met.
- Ensure organizational alignment amongst regional sales and business management, global account management, engineering and business development resources to develop and secure opportunities.
- Develop an understanding of the financial drivers and key operations at target opportunities including available investment / production tax credits or similar incentives.
- Be conversant in Linde customer offerings and how to structure such offerings in win-win customer propositions.
- Establish relationships with internal and external key decision makers
- Present internally to the Linde investment committee to gain support and approval for Louisiana projects.
Qualifications:
- Commercial creativity with an entrepreneurial spirit – well developed negotiation and commercial skills. Understands “build, own, and operate” business models
- Firm understanding of petrochemical and refining processes
- Familiarity with Inflation Reduction Act, and its impact on investment
- Ability to communicate with both Linde and customers’ senior management in order to deliver Linde’s value proposition.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical discipline; MBA a plus
- Minimum of 10 years business experience
- Minimum of 10 years successful project development/investment experience
- Experience in project management and business development/or sales with demonstrated success in developing and commercializing complex and uncertain projects on a build own operate basis with and without partners
- Well-developed commercial skills with experience in negotiating complex investment projects including partnerships, offtake agreements, financing etc.
- Mastery of Excel, and DCF analysis
- Experience with managing high performing cross-functional teams of both internal and external resources
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Familiarity with the hydrogen/syngas business, hydrogen/syngas production technologies, hydrogen recovery technologies, gas processing, carbon capture and electrolysis
- Successful track record of working in highly matrixed organizations.
