Description
The Kentucky Department of Insurance regulates the Commonwealth's insurance market, licenses agents and other insurance professionals, monitors the financial condition of companies, educates consumers to make wise choices, and ensures Kentuckians are treated fairly in the marketplace.
The Market Conduct Branch provides in-depth examinations of insurance-related entities that conduct business in Kentucky. Examiners from the Market Conduct Branch go into insurance agencies, insurance companies, etc., to examine their business practices as they relate to licensing, claims, tax payments, rates and form approval, advertising and sales aids, underwriting and rating, policyholder service, and complaint handling.
We are looking for an Administrative Specialist III to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist III you provide professional support to the Insurance Program Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining various complex programs, projects or activities within the Insurance Local Government Premium Tax and Surplus Lines program within the Division of Consumer Protection.

We are looking for an Administrative Specialist III to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist III you provide professional support to the Insurance Program Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining various complex programs, projects or activities within the Insurance Local Government Premium Tax and Surplus Lines program within the Division of Consumer Protection.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides professional administrative support to the Consumer Protection division. Supervises, plans, organizes functions for the division including compiling data, drafting correspondences, coordinate assignments made to divisions and maintain files.
- Supervises implementation of and recommends policies and procedures regarding the regulation and interpretation of Local Government Premium Tax (LGPT) and surplus lines. Maintains LGPT and surplus lines database. Reviews and prepares records and reports for agency requirements.
- Interprets departmental policy to the public and departmental employees. Orders supplies for staff, maintain inventory and coordinate with department inventory officer as needed. Monitors copies, multi-function printer for any issues and report to help desk as needed.
- Data entry of LGPT and surplus lines. Send letters for non-filers of the LGPT annual reconciliation. Answer incoming phone calls which include taking messages, transferring to the correct representative, appointment scheduling and prepare meetings.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
